We are thrilled to announce that the IPEDU Project was presented at the prestigious Fifth IP & Innovation Researchers of Asia (IPIRA) Conference, held at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. This annual event has grown into a significant forum for intellectual property (IP) researchers and practitioners across the globe.

This edition of the conference was remarkable, welcoming over 300 scholars from diverse regions, including Asia-Pacific, North and South America, Europe, and Africa. The conference brought together speakers, chairs, and attendees from academia, policy-making circles, and the legal profession, making it a truly global platform for discussing the latest developments in IP law and innovation.

The IPIRA Network, which organized this event, is a unique initiative designed to provide a forum for IP researchers to share and discuss their ongoing work with peers, practitioners, and policymakers. It creates an inclusive environment for knowledge exchange on intellectual property law, fostering collaborations and contributing to the ongoing development of this critical field.

This year’s IPIRA Conference was organized in collaboration with several distinguished institutions, including:

  • The WIPO Academy and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO),

  • The Intellectual Property, Government Procurement, and Competition Division of the World Trade Organization (WTO),

  • The Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia,

  • The Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia,

  • Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University,

  • Texas A&M University School of Law, and

  • Our partners at the Faculty of Law, University of Geneva.

During the conference, Mihai Barsan from MB ThinkTank presented the paper “Current Trends in Teaching Intellectual Property in European Higher Education”. His presentation highlighted the IPEDU Project’s role in advancing intellectual property education across Europe. He discussed the ongoing efforts to adapt curricula to the demands of the modern labor market, including the integration of IP law with practical, real-world applications in higher education. The presentation sparked interest and valuable discussions about the future of IP education and its role in fostering innovation.

The IPEDU Project is committed to developing education that bridges the gap between academic knowledge and the skills required in the workforce. Presenting our work at this highly-regarded conference allowed us to showcase our efforts to an international audience and engage in meaningful conversations that will help drive the project forward.

We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Fifth IPIRA Conference, and we look forward to continuing our collaborations with global partners in advancing intellectual property education and innovation.
